Symmetra was always quite an interesting hero, she is the one that was reworked twice already, and I am sure that she is expecting, even more, reworks in the future. In this article, I will try to predict how daddy Jeff could fix that interesting hero.
Let’s start with the announcements of Jeff Kaplan and what he said about upcoming changes to Symmetra. First of all he announced that Symmetra is in one list with the next heroes:
And we already know the changes in the next two heroes. Hanzo now has another ability – Volley, that is increasing his attack speed giving him an ability to instantly fire six arrows one after another. Goodbye imbalanced Scattered Arrow, we will miss you! Sombra was greatly rebalanced and now we have a decent hero that could find some use in the ranked matches. But let’s talk about the queen of this topic – about Symmetra.
As far as I know, she will not receive some game-breaking changes. She will be switched to the DPS class and her toolkit will be changed a lot. Now her blaster is an awesome weapon but they took away the self-aiming feature. Her clip will automatically reload if Symmetra is attacking Barriers or energy-shielded heroes. That is incredible considering the current Overwatch Double Barrier meta. She will cut through these barriers like a hot knife through the butter.
Symmetra is an interesting champion, but her toolkit is strange. Turrets that could be wiped out with a single rocket, teleport on incredibly short distances and Ultimate – the giant barrier. Well, Barrier could find some use, but if the dive compositions will come back to the meta, this ultimate will again become almost useless. Guns is good, but if you want to be useful you need to master this hero to find the best usage of her arsenal.
Looking at the recent changes in Sombra, I think that they will do everything they can to bring Symmetra back to the competitive games. The only way they could do that is to make sure that Symmetra would be used as an offensive hero, not like some builder. After all, her new gun is an awesome tool in the right hands, so you NEED to learn how to use it. Even boosters at https://expertboosting.com are saying that Symmetra could be efficiently used in the current gaming situation.
The recent change would make Symmetra mains (if there are some of this kind of people) happier and it will insanely increase the options when this hero could be used. The only goal of Blizzard is to make Overwatch heroes independently useful, which can be used even without quick-charged Ultimate abilities. That is why Mercy’s Valkyrie was nerfed so hard, while Sombra’s ultimate was buffed a lot. The main thing that Blizzard wants is to support as many heroes as possible on every map and mode.
I hope that Blizzard would remember that Symmetra always was a defensive hero and they will keep her tools for this part of the game. The shield generator is an awesome ability, but how could it be used to gain the maximum efficiency in ranked games?
